Learn about the Victorian Gender Equality Act 2020 and the process that Melton City Council has undertaken to meet the requirements of the new state legislation including:
- Working with staff to build their capacity around gender equity
- Undertaking gender impact assessments and considering the needs of girls and women in everything that Council does.
In a perfect world, gender equality ultimately leads to a reduction in violence against women and children. Victoria is the only state to have legislated anything like this and are leading the country in their gender equality work.
