Living Sustainably: A How to Guide
8 November 2021 - 6 November 2022
Kylie is the General Manager of Green Connect, an award-winning, not-for-profit social enterprise that is all about reducing waste and growing fair food, while employing people who need the jobs most. She is also a Director at Flame Tree Community Food Co-op which sells local, organic, unpackaged and ethical groceries, she’s the founder of Sustainable Illawarra, and she has been on a mission to live more sustainably for years.
Kylie has become a “go to person” for friends, family and local businesses who have questions about growing food, making food, reducing waste, reducing carbon footprint, or living sustainably. Her team at Green Connect helps to design sustainable events, conducts sustainability and waste audits at businesses of all sizes, and created and runs one of the largest urban permaculture farms in the world. At home, she has replaced her lawn with a productive vegetable garden (and is still learning), keeps chickens and bees, makes kombucha, kefir, yoghurt and bread, buys almost nothing new, rides an e bike, drives an electric vehicle, only puts her bins out once a month, and says she feels more happy, healthy and connected with the world than ever. In her words, “I’m still learning, trying, failing, trying again, and enjoying the process.”
