Homemade Vanilla Apple Pie with a Sugar and Spice Roux

Avery loves to learn and share new things. She is a 2nd grader in Lowell, MA, USA. Avery participated both her local Learning Festival and the Global Learning Festival in 2022. She was voted the Most Significant Impact by one of the working groups. When she was 16 months, she started to help Daddy cook and Mommy bake and liked doing both. During the pandemic, she missed her friends and started the cooking show so that her friends could see her even when everyone was stuck at home. Since then, Avery has made well over a dozen videos, sharing her favourite family recipes and some totally fun recipes. Recently Avery did a special, three-recipe show to benefit a local non-profit, Catie’s Closet (catiescloset.org) and help other kids. She has been volunteering for the food back for 4-5 years as well.

Avery has been making this apple pie with her Mom for more than 4 years for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other special occasions. Avery will make show you how to make her favorite ingredient-vanilla extract. Then she will demonstrate how to make an apple pie with a sugar and spice roux-she will not let Dad make it the old fashioned way because using the roux is so much better.
