DIY Workshop: Krathong Making

Naresuan University is a public higher education Insititute located in the Northern Region of Thailand which aims to enhance quality of teaching and research for all aging.

This event offers a DIY workshop for making Krathong which is made of banana leaves (or other friendly materials) decorated with flowers, incense sticks, and candle to pay respect to the Goddess of Water where participants can join the Loi Krathong Festival which has been currently held in Sukhothai Historical Park. We will demonstrate how to make Krathong from different types of material based on participants’ available materials. Then after making DIY Krathong, we will offer all participants to see this festival virtually and show how Thai people float this Krathong on the river, canal, or other watercourses in Sukhothai Historical Park. Importantly, this Global Learning Festival will support the Sukhothai UCCN for Crafts and Folk Art and GNLC missions for lifelong learning; particularly in terms of crafts-making.
