The Werribee River stretches from forested uplands to ocean bay, and has significant geological, cultural and ecological values. The array of plant and animal species found within the catchment will be explored, and places of interest highlighted. With the lower section of the river under pressure from rapid urban development on the fringe of Melbourne’s western suburbs, the future impacts of human population and climate change will be addressed. The platypus, one of our most iconic creatures, lives throughout the river. Find out how, with our partners and volunteers, we are working to protect wildlife, improve water quality, regenerate habitat and provide natural places for all of us to enjoy.
